Hi list, can you help me again?
I work with 10Baste2 - Ethernet. I've build a new kernel and my network doesn't work any more. Please help me!
$ ifconfig lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:24 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:24 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:1648 (1.6 KiB) TX bytes:1648 (1.6 KiB)
$ ifconfig eth0 eth0: error fetching interface information: Device not found
$ ifup eth0 -- says the same
$ ping Woody PING Woody.family.net (192.168.1.1): 56 data bytes ping: wrote Woody.family.net 64 chars, ret=-1 ping: wrote Woody.family.net 64 chars, ret=-1 ping: wrote Woody.family.net 64 chars, ret=-1 ping: wrote Woody.family.net 64 chars, ret=-1 ping: wrote Woody.family.net 64 chars, ret=-1
--- Woody.family.net ping statistics --- 5 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss
$ ping SuSE connect: Network is unreachable
So you can see my network doesn't work well. :-(
I think there is a problem with my kernel or/and my network-card.

If anybody can help me, please say what I've do wrong. I need my LAN! And therefore I need YOU! :-)
Thanks a lot!

modprobe ne2k-pci
-dnh
First of all: $ modprobe ne2k-pci modprobe: Can't locate module ne2k-pci That's why I don't have _any_ modules. But my kernel-configuration says that this driver is allready build in the kernel: CONFIG_NE2K_PCI=y CONFIG_8139CP=y CONFIG_8139TOO=y # CONFIG_8139TOO_PIO is not set CONFIG_8139TOO_TUNE_TWISTER=y CONFIG_8139TOO_8129=y So it must work. BUT IT DON'T DO SO. :-( See you my error? Thanks Sebastian 'Frank©' Wieseler
