Ad "Erfahrungsbericht SuSE 6.0" Vielleicht wäre es ja nicht unklug eine Updatemöglichkeit in SuSe zu integrieren, die Informationen über neue Versionen bei einer bestehenden Internetverbindung einholt und den Benutzer über diese Informiert (installierte Pakete mit Präferenzen) sowie ein Update per Mausklick (KDE läßt grüßen) möglich macht. Damit bleibt die Fragerei aus wo den welches Paket zu holen sei. Und rpms, die nicht für SuSe zusammengestellt wurden werden erst garnicht verwendet. Das ist fast ein alter Hut. Nur Du musst die Versionsnummer checken. Dann kannst Du Dir online das neueste Packet direkt per rpm installieren. Einen geeigneten Automatismus, muesstest Du schon selber schreiben. Onlineupdates versucht doch M$ auch die ganze Zeit dem Anwender schmackhaft zu machen. Das stimmt natürlich, jedoch hüte ich mich vor einem Automatismus, der sofort die neueste Version installiert. Was mir eher vorschwebt ist eine Möglichkeit rpms - natürlich mit Versionsnummern und Infos - übers Netz zu betrachten, ähnlich der "Ankündigungs-" ("announce") -listen! Nur daß sofort eine Auswahl und eine Auffrischung (Update) möglich ist. Ich sehe ein Problem in der Eintrittshürde für viele Benutzer eines PC. für die wäre das schnelle Entwickeln unter OpenSource weitaus attraktiver, wenn sie mehr und schneller davon profitieren würden. Bislang trauen sich viele nicht in die Installation einzugreifen und haben deshalb oft unsichere alte Versionen auf Lager. (Vielleicht mit ein Grund warum Linux noch einen sehr bescheidenen Teil am Desktop inne hat) Einen weiteren Vorteil verspreche ich mir auch wegen der Reduzierung des Zeitaufwandes. Jedesmal irgendwo nachzschauen ob es eine neue Version gibt, die dieses oder jenes Problem behebt ist mühsam. Derselbe Mechanismus kann ja dann bei Querverweisen auf Module auf die Abhängigkeiten bestehen und fehlen in Gang gesetzt werden. Damit erübrigen sich IMHO auch viele Nachfragen wieso denn dieses oder jenes nicht rennt. Hi, ich sehe da ueberhaupt keinen Nutzen, diese Udateritis ist doch ganz klar eine DOS/Winxx Krankheit, wo die einzelnen Releases so schlecht sind, dass man schon vor dem update nach dem naechsten fragt. Auch ein Linux-System kannst Du mit permanentem ueberschreiben und installieren von Paketen in die Knie zwingen. --Never change a running system" sollte einer der Leitsaetze sein. Wer also z.B Beta Versionen Linux Programmen installiert weiss was er tut und weiss auch dass er die Stabilitaet seines Systems aufs Spiel setzt. Wenn Du also mit Deinem Rechner wirklich produktiv arbeiten willst dann setze nur Programme ein die erwiesenermassen stabil sind. Ein Update erfolgt nicht, weil es gerade herausgekommen ist, sondern nur dann wenn es Neuerungen birgt die dringend benoetigt werden. Und selbst dann solltest Du 1 - 2 Wochen warten und verfolgen ob irgendwelche Probleme berichtet werden. Natuerlich waere aus Linux nix geworden, wenn sich keiner auf Experimente eingelassen haette, nur diese Leute wissen was sie tun und sie wissen auch sehr gut ueber neue Versionen Bescheid. Es gibt z.B Dave Whitinger News / Software / Hardware Roundup, wenn Du das abonnierst, wirst Du immer ueber alle Neuerungen informiert sein, Du brauchst nur die Post zu lesen. Ich benutze meinen Rechner zuhause als Experimentierkiste, wenn was Neues kommt, was mich interessiert wird das ausprobiert. Ich habe dafuer viel Zeit investiert um Fehler rauszufinden und Programme zum Laufen zu bringen, und dabei eine Menge gelernt. Nun hatte ich einen Punkt erreicht, wo ich mein System soweit durcheinander gebracht habe, dass ich mich entschloss der Einfachkeit halber neu zu installieren. Willst Du das wirklich allen nahelegen, auch Anfaengern? Ich schaetze mal 50% aller Fragen hier resultieren aus hemmungslosen Experimenten von Leuten, die nicht genug wissen um zu verstehen was sie da tun. Dann sitzt einer mit seinem Halbwissen vor der Kiste und alles ist hin ("Ich habe nur was in die inittab geschrieben").
