Vielleicht können sie dir aber eine Hilfe sein: Thanks to Amadeus Bippelsterz; he showed me were to find the rpm-package of wicd and gksu for oss 11.1: ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/home:/dmitry_serpokryl:/Enlightenment-cvs-core-metapackage/openSUSE_11.1/i586/ There is an article in the german magazine Linux-User about wicd but it doesn't tell any detail about the correct installation. More detailed informations I found at http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wicd The most important one is: „running multiple network managers will cause problems, so it is important to disable all other network management daemons“. In my experience this is absolutely true. When networkmanager was still running or with a 'traditional configuration with Yast" wicd didn't work. The problem is that there are no hints about how to install wicd correctly on opensuse. For example the indication for arch linux doesn't help because there is no rc.conf on oss 11.1. So I did it the nasty way: I moved /etc/init.d/network to /etc/init.d/old_network and then put a link from wicd to network (ln -s /etc/init.d/wicd /etc/init.d/network). This works fine on my machine. (If someone kowns a 'cleaner' way please let me know.) Now I can easily use more than one lan and wlan configurations. The last thing I had to do was to change at Options -> external programmes the DHCP-Client from 'automatic' to 'dhcpd' and flushing the routing-table from 'automatic' to 'route'.
Funktioniert wpa_supplicant ohne NetworkManager? Siehe [1].
Gruß, Helmut
