Ich glaube kaum, dass Du es von Windows o.ae. her kennst, einen komletten, offengelegten Quellcode zu bekommen, den Du selbst bearbeiten und compilieren kannst, oder? Du vergleichst hier Aepfel mit Birnen. Installiere doch ein RPM, da kannst Du mit entsprechenden Tools (Yast, Xrpm, etc.) Dich durchklicken und in den allermeisten Faellen musst Du dann auch nichts mehr von Hand konfigurieren. Fertig. Programm aufrufen und es geht (in den meisten Faellen :-) Bei Windows bekommst Du ja in den meisten Faellen immer nur Binaries zum Installieren, insofern hinkt Dein Vergleich wohl etwas. Was meinst Du wie lange Du braeuchtest, unter Win mit den ganzen (inkompatiblen) DLLs z.B. ein Programm zum Comilieren zu ueberreden?
[...] Ich verstehe schlichtweg nicht, warum das die Entwickler nicht endlich begreifen, dass ein Desktop-Anwender nicht tagelang irgendwelche Dokus wälzen will (es kann auch nicht jeder soooo gut englisch) für solche simplen Dinger. Für solch ein Tool will die Mehrheit nicht irgendwelche Kommandozeilen-Befehle auswendig lernen und zig Libaries und weiss der Henker noch was versuchen zu installieren. Sondern klicken und loslegen.
Installiere per RPM, und in der Regel wird sich Dein Konfigurationsaufwand auf ein Minimum beschraenken. Ich jedenfalls bin froh, dass ich den Quellcode habe und im Notfall selbst schauen kann, wo was schiefgeht.
Ich schätze Linux mit seiner offenen und stabilen Architektur sehr. Aber wenn behauptet wird, dass ei n KDE (von mir aus auch gnome oder windowmaker), besser sei als ein Windows. Dann ist es höchste Zeit, dass man da endlich eine vernünftige Installaionsmöglichkeit hinkriegt. Wenn das nicht geschafft wird, ist meiner Meinung nach Linux im Desktop-Bereich grade noch für Office einsetzbar. Das aber absolut top.. Aber für Grafik uns bisschen Sound absolut nicht.
Ach, dass KDE so einfach und gut zu bedienen ist wie Windows und dass Linux Windows im Desktop-Bereich verdraengt, das sind in der Regel Sprueche von Werbemachern. Ein Unix-System ist definitiv bei der Installation mit einigem Konfigurationsaufwand verbunden, aber das macht es IMHO gerade aus: Der Administrator hat eben Einfluss darauf, wo was installiert wird, wie was funktioniert, wie was konfiguriert wird. IMHO ist Linux bei weitem nicht so -- sagen wir mal -- einfach zu bedienen wie vielleicht Mac oder Windows, vielleicht sind die Bedienungen vergleichbar, wenn mal alles richtig installiert ist, aber insgesamt gesehen halte ich eine Linuxinstallation fuer eine groessere Herausforderung :-)
Ich hoffe, ich kann mich mit meiner Meinung hier trotzdem noch blicken lassen.
Wir haben doch Meinungsfreiheit, warum solltest Du Dich also hier mit Deiner Meinung nicht blicken lassen koennen? Hier sind ja keine Linux-Fanatiker am Werk, ich schaetze, dass viele privat daheim auch Windows zusammen mit Linux auf einer Platte haben. Hat alles seine Vor- und Nachteile... :-)
Manchmal habe ich das Gefühl, dass die eingefleischten Linux-Cracks einfach bisschen Angst haben, ihr ?Können würde ihnen mit einfacheren Installationen weggenommen.
Installation ist eines, Wartung und Konfiguration etwas anderes. Natuerlich kannst Du unter Win z.B. eine Firewall einfach installieren, Setup.exe geklickt, ein paar Fragen beantwortet, und schon ist das Programm auf der Platte. Aber ich glaube ehrlich gesagt nicht, dass es das dann schon war -- Konfigurieren ist da auch angesagt, und da muss man dann verstehen, wie es funktioniert. Daher halte ich Dein Argument, Koennen wird nicht mehr gebraucht wenn die Installation einfacher wird, fuer nicht zutreffend.
Dies ist ein Grund, warum Gates Erfolg hat(te). Ok man kann zwar damit auch nicht recht arbeiten. Obwohl man dafür zahlen muss. Dafür sind die Installationen einfach ;-).
Naja, ich hatte neulich ein Programm versucht zu installieren, das hat sich einfach verabschiedet mit einem netten Fehler: Error Code 478 in Setup.exe. Schoen, und was jetzt? Hatte keine Chance, irgendwo nachzusehen, was das fuer ein Fehler ist oder gar selbst einzugreifen. Bei manchen Programm funzt es einwandfrei, bei anderen dafuer ueberhaupt nicht -- da ziehe ich lieber ein RPM (oder notfalls Tarball) mit einer anschliessenden Konfiguration von Hand vor.
Versteht mich nicht falsch, ich möchte keineswegs behaupten, dass dieses oder das OS besser ist. Für mich ist Linux ganz klar genial. Ich nerve mich nur an diesen verdammten Installationen, die einfach nie klappen, weil immer was fehlt ;-))
Lese das README, lese evtl. vorhandene Installationsanweisungen, da steht genau drin, welche Voraussetzungen die Software hat. Wenn Du per RPM installierst, bekommst Du sogar die Abhaengigkeiten aufgezaehlt. Gruesse, Thomson PS: Wenn Du weiterhin Probleme hast, dann poste mal die entsprechenden Infos (was gemacht? welcher Fehler tritt auf? Fehlermeldung?
