Hi, I’m once again trying to report these; the last time I tried this I wasn’t yet a member of openSUSE’s translation mailing list so my message bounced (or was held indefinitely). This is about parts of openSUSE that seem to be untranslatable or translations that do not seem to propagate in the actual UI. 1) In KDE Plasma, the “Default openSUSE panel” string is not found in Weblate. I’ve found the string in /usr/share/plasma/layout-templates/ org.opensuse.desktop.defaultPanel/metadata.json where it can be translated by adding a “Name[xx]” key (where xx = the language code). Please add this anywhere so the SUSE-specific parts would appear translated in the UI. 2) In YaST, some strings do not appear to be translated in the UI even while they *are* translated in Weblate. It looks like the translatable source strings in Weblate do not exactly match those actually used in YaST. For example, desktop-file-translations/update-desktop-files-yast (both master and SLE-15-GA) have the source text: “Choose the repositories for installation of software packages (CD, network, etc.), add the community repositories” …but this is NOT the form that you can see in YaST UI. Instead, the string is: “Choose the repositories for installation of software packages (CD,network,etc.),add the community repositories” (i.e., there are no spaces after the commas). This can be easily verified by `msgunfmt`ing desktop_translations.mo from /usr/ share/locale/<LANG>/LC_MESSAGES, finding the source string, removing all spaces following a comma from it, and `msgfmt`ing the file back. That sounds like a bug for Yast. I know, that they have automated the translation integration/ It that is not the same as in Weblate, you should create a bug report for the Yast Team. I know that, being a long-time Finnish translator of KDE. I can assure you a string “Default OPENSUSE panel” does not reside under KDE’s localization strings! Also, as I already mentioned, the path of the panel definition files contains “org.opensuse.desktop.defaultPanel”, so it’s definitely openSUSE- specific.

So would I. However, I have searched for the string using Weblate search for multiple times.

That sounds like a bug for Yast. I know, that they have automated the translation integration/ It that is not the same as in Weblate, you should create a bug report for the Yast Team.

This is another story. YaST translation is a bit complicated: - Package is submitted, making a translation tag. - Jenkins robot collects strings from all YaST packages and commits it to GitHub. - GitHub Weblate webhook informs Weblate to fetch latest translation sources. - Translators translate. - Weblate pushes translations to GitHub. - yast-translations needs to be picked and submitted to the yast2-trans package, either by robot or by human. - Once the new translation package appears, translations should be in place. That is why the YaST translations round trip is a bit slower, and in general, it can take a month or even more to be translated. Any of the steps above can break, and if the translation will not appear, the path of the translations needs to be inspected. Hi, It comes from plasma5-openSUSE package and the openSUSE bits are in: https://github.com/openSUSE/plasma-opensuse This string is here: https://github.com/openSUSE/plasma-opensuse/blob/leap-15.x/config-files/usr/... Well. KDE uses a non-standard way to translate its files. I don't have insight into it, so I don't know how these files can be translated. plasma5-openSUSE is an openSUSE specific package for sure. Feel free to report the bug either to openSUSE Bugzilla or to the GitHub. Maybe the package desktop-file-translation could be capable of the translation (after some tuning), but I would stay away from it. The package should be deprecated, as it would mix few openSUSE specific strings with tens of thousands other strings that come from the upstream. It would be much better, if the package itself will care about the translation. KDE does not use in-repo translations. It extracts pot files and translations are collected into bundles. Additionally the Qt things need a different approach.
