Today or tomorrow we will update the verify-po.py pre-commit script; see https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=779006 (I'll attach the script to the bug). The new version coming the recent subversion archive seems to get the "warnings" right and no longer interprets them as errors. This means more potential broken files could creep into the system (e.g., it seems to be possible to submit po files without a charset declaration...).
