[opensuse-translation] How to report typos in packages/pot files
Hi all, I am translating packages/base1.po file and I have found some typo in the msgids. If I have understood correctly, these msgids are extracted automatically from rpms included in the distribution. What is the best way to report such typos? Should I contact directly the rpm mantainer or file a bug in bnc? In the former case, how can I find the mantainer given that I do not have an account in obs and rpm -qi reports only authors? In the latter case, is there an (almost) automatic way to relate the rpm to the right component available in bnc? Really the easiest way is getting an OBS account (actually you have one, you just have to login on build.opensuse.org once with your bugzilla credentials) and then follow the steps on http://en.opensuse.org/Build_Service/Collaboration#Example_with_web_interfac... The documentation is not really 100% uptodate, but you shouldn't need any external tools - only click around the web interface. The only thing missing is a changelog, but we hope to get this in as well. mmm... I need to learn to use OBS as well as the meaning of the projects in OBS. For instance, there is a typo in the msgid relative to the description of DeviceKit-power (as well as of libdevkit-power-gobject1) but if I search kit-power, I obtain two results for DeviceKit-power: one in openSUSE:Dropped and one in DISCONTINUED:openSUSE:11.2. However, if I choose DeviceKit-power in openSUSE:Dropped and then I access the DeviceKit-power.spec file, I obtain a different description. So, it seems that the pot file is outdated. Anyway, suppose that the descriptions match, as happens for the cpio rpm. In this case I obtain 35 projects, including oS:Factory and Base:build. What is the right project to choose in this case (and in general)? Then I branch the package, fix the typos in the spec file (only summary and description fields) and finally i submit a request. Always openSUSE:Factory

For me, you can run run_merge. I have already submitted the partial translation and I will not work on the file until this evening. I will take care of some fuzzy string, but at least I will not translate wrong strings. For me, you can run run_merge. I have already submitted the partial translation and I will not work on the file until this evening. I just ran the merge command (run_merge) for 'it' only. I think You can merge Czech, and IMHO all languages at all... ;-)
50-tools/run_merge LL
(where LL is your language) will do the trick.

I think You can merge Czech, and IMHO all languages at all... ;-)
I just merged and submitted cs and fr. The rest will follow on Monday--but you can also do it yourself, if you have the gettext tools installed (what is very likely). Funny it should come up, just earlier today I picked up a trick from darix on irc how to get info for non-installed rpms. Now I discovered that two requests have been declined with "please add an entry in the .changes file by using "osc vc" to describe your changes". How can I do this using the web interface? Do I need to edit the .changes file using the same pattern as other entries?
