I think we are a little bit confused and this issue is related to the thread in marketing ML. http://lists.opensuse.org/archive/opensuse-marketing/2008-10/msg00005.html There are two teams for translation now, Translation team and Localization team. *Translation* team handles mainly the translation of Wiki and is discussing issues on 'opensuse-*wiki* ML'. On the other hand, *Localization* team handles mainly the translation of applications and discussing issues on 'opensuse-*translation* ML'. I think that's why we are confused. Additionally, Translation team recognize that translating the new frontpage (http://www.opensuse.org) to other languages is not their task, because the frontpage is outside of the Wiki and they have no privilege to translate it by themselves. In addition to the frontpage and the 'Get It!' page (http://software.opensuse.org/), there are many pages to be translated outside of the Wiki, such as news.opensuse.org, users.opensuse.org, build.opensuse.org... Zonker, just now in Japan, and I were talking about this issue last week. I think we'd better decide it first, which ML is suitable for discussing this issue. Is the translation ML suitable for that ? I'm not. Well, a little bit .. :-) So far the translation list is mainly for package translations, i agree with Carlos. But yes, some go there first, because of the name, and ask for the wiki. Thats not that often so not really a problem. For the wiki, o-wiki seems to be a quite obvious place to do so. With the new pages, and the possibility to translate them we have to make it more clear, right.

options: - all wiki stuff stays on the o-wiki list, all other stuff on o-translations - make a new list, like o-web-translation* (for wiki, download, frontpage, whatever page will come) - continue to have no plan :-) I would like to have a list where all "web" translators are on. Generally, I like the idea. The only concern I've got that soon there will be tons of mailing lists and it would be even harder than now to find the right one.

I agree. Currently, I am subsribed to the translations list and to the wiki list as well. AFAIK Robert is subscribed to the wiki list, too. So no request stays unanswered as long as Robert and me do not happen do be on vacations at the same time (as it happened to occur last week).
