[opensuse-translation] special vi
is there any kind of special Vi setup for Po file (apart syntax hilight) I mean: something that could protect the english original and let only the translation part available for editing? I always fear to type a letter on the wrong line and so begin a bug (or will this be refused by the system?) thanks jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html http://lucien.dodin.net http://fr.susewiki.org/index.php?title=Gérer_ses_photos --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-translation-help@opensuse.org

Are you working directly in the po files with a text editor? If you use a translation tool source and target will be separated, which will solve this particular problem. I find a lot more effective to use a CAT tool because of the possibility to reuse terms, whole segments etc.(perhaps because I'm used to leverage translation tools). I use Heartsome (which is not free) but there is also Kbabel for po files. I have only occasionally used po files, so I know the syntax but did not have to use special tools. for the wiki I just copy the original text and type ahead of it, deleting the already translated sentences. If you use a

I use gvim, and so have a copy/paste capability (the only drawback I see in vi :-) Kbabel for po files. true I must get a look to kde dev system :-) thanks jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html http://lucien.dodin.net http://fr.susewiki.org/index.php?title=Gérer_ses_photos --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-translation-help@opensuse.org
