not that I recall, but ... I removed all the nvidia prop drivers and moved the blacklist file but still cannot access X.
This might be a separate problem, but I too am using the nvidia G04 driver (for a GeForce GTX 460) and X failed to start after recent Tumbleweed updates (my zypper dup covered releases 20230205, 20230207, 20230208, and 20230209). The nvidia kernel modules built properly, but after reboot there was no X. Using an older kernel didn't work either.
But I was able to get X working again by downgrading glibc, If you have or can find the old packages, this brought back X for me: "zypper in --oldpackage glibc-2.36-9.1.x86_64.rpm glibc-devel-2.36-9.1.x86_64.rpm glibc-extra-2.36-9.1.x86_64.rpm glibc-locale-2.36-9.1.x86_64.rpm glibc-locale-base-2.36-9.1.x86_64.rpm nscd-2.36-9.1.x86_64.rpm"' reboot
I've since locked those packages: "zypper al glibc glibc-devel glibc-extra glibc-locale glibc-locale-base nscd"
I'll unlock them at some point in the future and see if things work again. I suppose a bug report is in order...but...ahhh...welll....(lowers head) I don't know how, nor do I know where to start with this one (I couldn't find much in the way of error messages during my troubleshooting, Xorg.0.log had only 1 line with an error, something about an "NI" error, I think).
tks, applying suggested changes now, and rebooting. unfortunately, did not work for me, but will try to find another glibc source are repleate. will advise tks -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet oftc

This rings a bell, I have heard of that somewhere, very recently. I forgot where, though. Ah, no, not related. It was a change in the glibc API that broke the ancient "unsuported" cards driver. Well, yes, there is a relationship, that same change must have affected the supported drivers, except that those will be adapted, eventually, by Nvidia. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. that is exactly the problem, but I doubt the solution will be provided by Nvidia. more likely by our developers. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet oftc
