Bluetooth - br-connection-profile-unavailable
Hi, (I never worked with Bluetooth on the Laptop, so sorry if this question is really stupid...) I try to connect a TomTom Wireless GPS MkII to my TW Laptop and get the above error message - Anyone an idea what profile is requested? (Smartphone/Android worked immediately, and DDG did not offer helping results....) Thanks Axel

What is that connection for? I have a TomTom and I never connected BT with a computer, only with a phone. It can be to use the TomTom as a hands free speaker/mike for the phone, or to provide internet to the TomTom. None of that involves a computer. Your device has to be different. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.4 x86_64 at Telcontar)

Import GPS position to the computer Cheers Axel

Ah. I think then that the profile tells the computer what to do with that connection. And it doesn't exist for this gadget. No idea where they reside to have a look at them. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.4 x86_64 at Telcontar)

Me neither, but since a profile is a name of a capability to provide a certain type of service with some communication protocol, does the bluetooth driver just provide certain basics, and then applications provide profiles specific to their purpose? Like, do you need to be running, or have installed, a GPS app to provide the required profile? "br" profile?: BR/EDR Connection Handover Profile https://www.bluetooth.com/specifications/specs/br-edr-connection-handover-pr... Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Profile https://www.bluetooth.com/specifications/specs/global-navigation-satellite-s... Also: https://www.bluetooth.com/specifications/specs/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Bluetooth_profiles Maybe trace bluetooth with 'btmon'. Or run 'bluetoothd' in debug mode. bluetooth [on|off] -- Robert Webb
