[opensuse-support] Has anybody experimented with reiserfs4?
Hi, Has anybody experimented with reiserfs4? I see packages, but no wiki page on our system. I do not know how to do it. I'm getting curious because I heard it supports compression. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.0 x86_64 at Telcontar)

We used it (very) intensively for our data storage - it is (IIRC) still the fastest option around for storing many small files. But that was 10 years ago, in the 2.6.30 aera..... Now, in SSD aera, we switched back to standard FS.

Oh, didn't even know they are in TW! I should play with it again a bit :D

We never tried that, so unfortunately not much info for you in this post :(( -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org

No, I ask about version 4. You, and me, used version 3 in the past. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.0 x86_64 at Telcontar)

Believe me, I know what I talk of. I had reiser3 on one of the servers, but the data machines were all Reiser4. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org

But ten years ago reiser4 was in initial stages. My question is about how to use it now. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.0 x86_64 at Telcontar)
