well, it probably has been adjusted to use systemd init rather than the /etc/init.d/xxxx. you might try: systemctl start <program_name> more you might do rpm -ql <program_name> |grep system to get the correct name to systemd also you might need to do: systemctl enable <program_name> I don't have it installed and really not interested enough to do so, and time constraints .... -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org

you might try: systemctl start <program_name>
Failed to start FAHClient.service Unit FAClient.service not found If I try to start it with just the command FAHClient i get - error while loading shared libraries : libssl.so.10 I have openssl installed, except there is no libssl.so.10
more you might do rpm -ql <program_name> |grep system to get the correct name to systemd
also you might need to do: systemctl enable <program_name>
alright that went through and registered the service....It still won't start... although it was trying....thanks for the help so far. I will try again tomorrow....
I don't have it installed and really not interested enough to do so, and time constraints ....
not a problem

The RPM is built for (probably) CentOS6, not for (Open)SUSE. RH has a different naming scheme, and a libssl.so.10 is therefore (most probably) coming from an OpenSSL 1.0.1. Unfortunately it seems they have close-sourced the client, at least the referenced https://github.com/FoldingAtHome/fah-client.git is no longer open, so following the build instructions from the README.md in the binary fahclient RPM also is no option. Yes Misha I see a lot of solutions for other distros...many suggest compat-libopenssl10 to get the necessary softlinks to get FAHClient running, but I can't seem to find this in the opensuse repositories. Does anyone know where this could be found ?? Thanks in advance......mike

Well thanks knurpht....I installed it and it did create some symlinks, however FAHClient says that it cannot find libssl.so.10, OPENSSL_1.0.1_EC, and libcrypto.so.10 I do see the symlinks for 2 but I don't even see the OPENSSL_1.0.1_EC on the system.
