I got three boxes of Betamax taking up space in my one-room flat! Been meaning to digitze them for about twenty years. Might just go the easy option and die first. Well, I'm near 70, so that could be a way out for me too. But my wife and my son are against it....

I have lots of Betas too, but 8-10 years ago I only have one machine left, and I'm sure I could find better recordings on the net than anything I could get off my ancient tapes with my ~28 year old last Beta Sony made to sell in USA, anniversary model, without onscreen menus, with touch screen remote too cantankerous to use for anything but clock setting, if that much.

Have you think about do it without computer?

connect the recorder to a tv with build in harddrive or external usb-stick and record there?
