HI Since the latest opensuse tumbleweed update, if i move a small window around , it leaves a trail of its image behind and it does not disappear until i close the window. Does anyone know what this effect is called so i can possibly track down a config option that the latest update configured? regards Ian -- opensuse:tumbleweed:20210208 Qt: 5.15.2 KDE Frameworks: 5.78.0 - KDE Plasma: 5.20.5 - kwin 5.20.5 kmail2 5.16.2 (20.12.2) - akonadiserver 5.16.2 (20.12.2) - Kernel: 5.10.12-1-default - xf86-video-nouveau: 1.0.17

Does it look like [1] ? Is this trail shown on all other windows or just above desktop? Usually this effect was present without compositing and over unresponsive window. Have you tried to switch off/on compositing? Usually Alt+Shift+F12 in KDE. No, i'll give that a try. i've not changed any config, it happened after the zypper update.

FWIW, it seems the compositor does have issues. I've seen several times application windows not updating anymore, or alternating some old versions (often affected is my gkrellm, but also others like the Vivaldi browser or KStars). Toggling compositing off and on fixes it. I had the impression it happens more often in the last ~2 weeks....
