[opensuse-support] Docking station - extending ports of HP notebooks
Hi, I need to extend ports available on HP ProBook 650 G2 and HP X2 210 G2 (both running TW) by something like HP USB-C Travel HUB, HP USB-C Mini Dock #AC3,HP Spectre USB-C, HP USB-C mini dock or HP USB-C Universal Dock + 4.5mm and USB Dock Adapter. They are connected to the notebook via USB-C and extend ports available in the notebook. Do You have experiences with that? Is it well supported? Does it reliably work with anything You connect via the dock? I need charging of the notebook (the X2), more USB, Ethernet. I suppose ports in notebook (HDMI, USB, ...) are still working as expected. Do You use something like that? Thanks in advance, V. -- Vojtěch Zeisek Komunita openSUSE GNU/Linuxu Community of the openSUSE GNU/Linux https://www.opensuse.org/ https://trapa.cz/

My guess, is that if it only connects to the USB-C there should be no problems at all - except that sharing one USB-C with an USB multiplier (inside the station) might not be enough. Last time I used such a thing, long ago, they used the PCI bus or some variation of it. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.0 x86_64 at Telcontar)

So I tried HP USB-C Mini Dock #AC3. Ethernet works, USB also, HDMI monitor was not detected. And main problem is it is supposed to charge HP Pro x2 210 G2 (convertible notebook, detachable keyboard, with Intel Atom, it's charged via USB-C), but it doesn't... So no any use for me. -- Vojtěch Zeisek Komunita openSUSE GNU/Linuxu Community of the openSUSE GNU/Linux https://www.opensuse.org/ https://trapa.cz/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org

Charging also over usb-c? I don't like that idea... unless it is a separate plug for that task alone. Perhaps.
