I had two Asus Xonar sound cards: a main battlewagon Xonar-STX-II and a standby also ePCI Xonar which apparently uses a usb chip and so lists under lsusb but not lspci. The former one finally crapped out so it's gone in the recyle bin. The transgender USB one lists under Leap-15.5 and TW the same way but no sound works in TW and PAVU control goes into perpetual "Establishing connection to pulse audio. PLease wait." (Pulse is installed to both updated systems).
What can I do?
These day's i'd recommend people strongly consider moving from pulse audio to pipewire anyway. If you install the wireplumber package that should sort out the rest of the dependencies so personally i'd probably give that a shot.
I installed everything pipwewire and rebooted
start qjackctl start yoshimi
yoshimi Yoshimi 2.2.0 is starting Using jack_audio for audio and alsa_midi for midi Set jack session callback failed Cannot connect yoshimi:left to jack port XONAR SOUND CARD Analog Stereo:playback_FL, status 22 Failed to connect jack audio ports Alsa midi priority is 1 Failed to start MusicIO Bail: *Yoshimi stages a strategic retreat :-(*
never seen this least one before, cute.
Let me install Yoshimi after lunch and have a quick play, I was using VCV Rack with jack via pipewire-jack the other day and it was working fine, I was using qjacktcl's graph screen to do all the audio routing, although I was then sending the audio into OBS Studio to do the recording then I imported everything in to kdenlive after to do the editing. I am using a combination of the USB sound card in my laptop's dock, a Steinberg UR44 (in class compliant mode) and I also have a focusrite scarlett that I only connect to Chrome for video conferencing and so far it all seems to play nice together. Although I haven't played with midi recently although I have a couple of controllers I can grab from my other desk for testing. -- Simon Lees (Simotek) http://simotek.net Emergency Update Team keybase.io/simotek SUSE Linux Adelaide Australia, UTC+10:30 GPG Fingerprint: 5B87 DB9D 88DC F606 E489 CEC5 0922 C246 02F0 014B
