The problem occurs with simple-scan and XSane Scanner Tools. The thing I don't understand is why it has worked in openSUSE Leap 15.1 and why not now? Both simple-scan and skanlite use the xsane backend which is probably where the problem is. The HP driver adds on to xsane.
