Hi Dennis,

as I wrote:

the correct adaptions of SANE to the HP Scanjet 5300c have been made.

Here are my systems messages:

# scanimage -L

and

# zypper se -si sane hplip

Remark:

I have an y-axis scaling problem as further mentioned...

The problem occurs with simple-scan and XSane Scanner Tools.

The thing I don't understand is why it has worked in openSUSE Leap 15.1 and why not now?

The core problem could be related to the different packages used by 15.1 compared to 15.2.

xsane-0.999-lp151.2.3.x86_64.rpm

hplip-3.18.6-lp151.1.1.x86_64.rpm

hplip-hpijs-3.18.6-lp151.1.1.x86_64.rpm

hplip-sane-3.18.6-lp151.1.1.x86_64.rpm

xsane-0.999-lp152.3.8.x86_64.rpm

hplip-3.19.12-lp152.1.1.x86_64.rpm

hplip-hpijs-3.19.12-lp152.1.1.x86_64.rpm

hplip-sane-3.19.12-lp152.1.1.x86_64.rpm

Any ideas?

If you did not already, you should try to install the scanner with

YaST/Scanner.  It will install the HP driver avision.  The driver info

indicates that it supports up to 2400 dpi, but also cautions that some

firmware revisions have x-axis scaling problems when using >1200 dpi.

Both simple-scan and skanlite use the xsane backend which is probably

where the problem is.  The HP driver adds on to xsane.  I am using

another HP scanner with its HP provided driver and it scans perfectly.
