But once you have replace actual version numbers with $releasever on every machine, you never need to copy anything anywhere -- "once per lifetime", remember?

Besides which, every installation will have a common set of repos -- the main, main update, and so on. The remainder, specific to each machine, won't be altered if you did choose to copy the common files from the server.
