I had same issue. Ensure You have *no* synaptic package, e.g. remove xf86- input-synaptics and ensure You have xf86-input-libinput installed.
I do not know if related, but I have in the very same time frame in X a "migrating" cursor. It just begins to slowly move down the monitor, just by a "ghost hand". Quite creepy LOL, could be related to what you are experiencing. Check also if cursor acceleration is off. My ghost went on holiday once I deactivated it.
