Anyone noticed the difference? There are forum posts and I was hit by this issue as well. To me it looks certainly worse and I was not able to get the same look with libfreetype6 2.10 and I had with 2.9.
I attached two screenshots to https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1172148 of the same terminal content using two different library versions. If anyone has suggestion how to get the same result with 2.10 as I had with 2.9 I am grateful.
I never configured anythjing explicitly, it is default Xfce installation without any customization. I do not actually know how to customize fonts (or, better said, I cannot predict what effect changing individual parameters would have).
For now I locked libfreetype6, but with 15.2 not far away ...
Interesting that I do not see the same effect in TW, so it could be something specific to Leap (may be some other libraries that do not work correctly with new libfreetype6).
It looks like sub-pixel artefacts on a Trinitron screen. That is, the 2.10 image shows vertically-coloured bars at the edges, whereas the 2.9 is completely black-and-white. I may be off base with my diagnosis, and I have no idea what causes it or how to fix it, but then I didn't charge anything for my thoughts either :) Best of luck! -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org
