[softwaremgmt] suseinfo.xml, is it used?
Is http://en.opensuse.org/Standards/RPM_metadata#SUSE_repository_info_.28susein... really used? Neither the 11.2 OSS repo nor the OBS repos provide it. So, not sure if the package management tools take it into account. I think it would be really useful that the OBS repos provide that "distro" tag. That would avoid yet another post in the forums from an user that confused http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSU... with http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSU.... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-softwaremgmt+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-softwaremgmt+help@opensuse.org

At least the openSUSE update repositories do use it to add an expiry timestamp to the repository. -- with kind regards (mit freundlichem Grinsen), Ruediger Oertel (ro@novell.com,ro@suse.de,bugfinder@t-online.de) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Linux MacBookRudi 2.6.33-2.99.35.b7bca5b-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2010-02-25 20:06:12 +0100 x86_64 Key fingerprint = 17DC 6553 86A7 384B 53C5 CA5C 3CE4 F2E7 23F2 B417 SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-softwaremgmt+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-softwaremgmt+help@opensuse.org

The data are parsed and offered to the applications (zypper, yast...). We'd add more support to help applications evaluating and describing those repository/product relationships, if those data were actually provided.

But what's the problem with CPEids? [http://cpe.mitre.org/specification/index.html] Looking at the official cpe-dictionary, then one finds e.g. cpe:/o:novell:opensuse or cpe:/o:novell:suse_linux:10::server or cpe:/o:novell:suse_linux:10::desktop ...
