Hello I am hoping someone here may be able to answer a question for me. I have to set up a proxy for a network, and I want it to work along these lines.... User opens up their browser and are given a page that I assign them automatically from the proxy(or DHCP server) and then they can enter an account id and password that I provide. Anyone know if I can do this with SuSE Firewall2?? And how do I do it? Thanks Travis Barlow Gestionnaire de systémes et Sécurité Université Sainte-Anne "Paranoia is heightened awareness"

I dont think its a job for the packet filter but for squid [1] itself. Setup the correct acl's and use single sign on (provided by kerberos). If you dont want to setup the whole full blown thing you can use the build in proxy authentication of squid[2]. There is no need to redirect your users to a certain page while accessing the proxy 4 the first time. Squid will handle this automagically.
