Getting a Logitech Cam to operational status in 7.3
Hi all! I just recently borrowed a Logitech Cam from my brother. I have NO idea of what kind. It looks like a Golfball with a buton on top. USB (of course !?!) The only problem is: How the nnnfffh do i get it operational in SuSE 7.3....? Is it possible at all? Using 2.4.10-SMP as kernel. USB loaded and functional. (use USB mouse.) So what else do i need? What modules? -- /Rikard --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rikard Johnels email : rjhn@linux.nu mob : +46 70 464 99 39 --------------------------Public PGP fingerprint------------------------------ < 15 28 DF 78 67 98 B2 16 1F D3 FD C5 59 D4 B6 78 46 1C EE 56 >
This doesn't really belong on this list, but since I don't know if you read SLE, I'll reply here

Light grey, with a dark grey top? If so, could well be a Logitech 3000

If it's the 3000, then yes - I'm using one

You need the pwc module... ...but... ...the one in 2.4.10 doesn't support the 3000 - get the latest kernel build from ftp.suse.com Then the hotswap service should detect and install it automagically http://www.smcc.demon.nl/webcam/ is the home page of the developer of the pwc module. At the site, you can also pick up the pwcx module, which contains extensions to the driver that are covered by an NDC (binary only) - you don't need this, but you may want it -- James Ogley, Unix Systems Administrator, Pinnacle Insurance Plc james.ogley@pinnacle.co.uk www.pinnacle.co.uk +44 (0) 20 8731 3619 Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 7.x) This email was created and sent with Ximian Evolution 1.0.3 NEW: Advogato diary at www.advogato.org/person/riggwelter *********************************************************************** CONFIDENTIALITY.
