SuSE comes with a firewall that you can use to block everything except designated ports. Well the Enterprise ones do, I'm fairly sure the other ones do as well... Look in the YaST2 tool under "Security and Users" and there should be a Firewall icon. If not then you'll need to install the right packages from your SuSE disks. The SLES 8 packages are called SuSEfirewall2 and yast2-firewall. Not sure what the other versions packages are called. I doubt you'll find something as user-friendly as ZoneAlarm. There is a program called "fwbuilder" (http://www.fwbuilder.org/) that you can download that will let you use a nice graphical interface to build the rules for linux firewalling, but you should be able to use the built in SuSE stuff if you can work out what ports to let in/exclude. I think the Linux version is free. -----Original Message----- From: Christian (aka Neodaxus) [mailto:neodaxus@gmx.net] Sent: Wednesday, 18 August 2004 8:06 a.m. To: suse-security@suse.com Subject: [suse-security] Firewall @ application level Hello, I'm looking for a free firewall at the application level for use with SuSE Linux. Maybe a firewall which also asks if a connection doesn't match the rules (like ZoneAlarm).
