We have a lot of servers running SuSE 8.0 Professional. I know updates and patches are no longer available from SuSE for versions 7.3 and earlier but I don't remember when that will run out for 8.0.

Each SuSE release (not the enterprise ones) seem to be supported for 2 years. SuSE Professional 8.0 was released on April 22 2002.. ttp://www.mozillaquest.com/Linux02/SuSE_Linux_8-0_announced_story-01.html
So I'm guessing support for that release will not be available after April 2004.
P.S. Questions like this probably belong on the suse-linux-e mailing
Errr, Roman Drahtmueller usually announces to this list when SuSE will discontiue making security patches availablable.
See for example: "Re: [suse-security] SuSE 7.3" http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-security/2003-Oct/0025.html
I agree that SuSE is on approximately a two year product cycle, but there is usually a grace period of a month or two after a new distro is released so people can make an orderly transition.
Example: 9.0 came out in late September, 2003, and 7.3 was discontinued mid-November, 2003.
Even so, might be time to think about what you are going to switch too..(9.0, or wait for 9.1) (9.0 seems pretty stable, might be a good choice.)
Hope this helps, Gar
That is just what we're trying to decide. I'd prefer to wait and see how 9.1 looks. Since it's the first release since the SuSE/Novell deal, I want to see what direction it looks like things are going before deciding whether to stick with SuSE or look at other distibutions. Jason ===========
