Before forcing a package install, you should always "rpm -ivh --verbose packagename.rpm" to see *why* its conflicting. It its something you can live with, then go ahead and force it. -miah On Fri, Nov 17, 2000 at 05:06:47PM +0100, Boris Kantwerk wrote:

Hi *!
I have problems while updating this package:
x:~ # rpm -Uhv libpcapn-0.4a6-279.i386.rpm error: failed dependencies: libpcap conflicts with libpcapn-0.4a6-279
x:~ # rpm -qa | grep libpcap libpcap-0.4a6-103
Can I do a rpm -ihv --force libpcapn-0.4a6-279.i386.rpm, or do I have to remove the libpcap-0.4a6-103 package first? What is the diffrenz between these two packages?
Thanx, Boris.
