I'm installing a set of SLES 9 servers, and trying to keep on the rpm only route, 'cos that's (IMO) a Good Thing.
Ack.
I'm not the kind of guy who wants to have to recompile software for each security update - that may be lazy, but I feel I have better things to do with my time!
I know that SuSE update software for security reasons - could 4.1 be justified because of the change of password hash?
I doubt that SUSE will do you this favour. But there are SLES9 RPMs of MySQL 4.1 on the MySQL web site - have you tried these?
I haven't, 'cos I'd really rather have stuff that YaST online update will look after. Still, it's worth a look I guess. Ta for the info. I agree it's unlikely that SuSE will move to 4.1, but I wondered if any SuSE people here knew of any moves in that area.... Thanks, Tom.
