Sure you can do that with dhcp. go to www.no-ip.com and register a
subdomain of no-ip.com, download the updater client (works for
win/linux/mac) load it up on the firewall and setup port forwarding on the
firewall to forward in your ftp/http/smtp/pop/telnet/ssh whatever
connections. I am doing exactly that - dsl line, linux firewall, three
computers behind the firewall one of which is http/ftp/smtp/pop server.

Edward, Interesting... I have a Windows box and was looking to setup at another box as a suse firewall on a DSL line. However, I have a modem that grabs an dhcp address each time it's turned on. Consequently, I don't think that I can have an FTP or HTTP server behind the modem because of the dhcp... I get service through USWest and I believe that I have a Cisco 675 DSL modem. I'm interested in what you develop for a setup on this...
Thanks, Ryan

hi, this is my situation... i have dsl, and i get dhcp-assigned addresses (as many as i want) i want to have my linux box setup so that i can firewall off certain things from the rest of my network but i want the computers behind the firewall to still be out on the internet with their public ips is there a way to put these boxes behind the linux one and still get dhcp? and how would it be setup so that the systems behind the linux box can still be available from the outside? (ie i have an ftp server running on my windows box that i would still like to have available)
thanks in advance!
