Hi, This should be trivial, but ... I have fwproxy (v1.7) running OK as long as I am using ftp from the command line of one of my internal machines, but if I try to access, say, ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/i386 (using netscape version 4 or so), all I get from my browser is: 220 Welcome to ftp-proxy. 500 'GET': command unrecognized. 500 'Referer:': command unrecognized. 500 'Proxy-Connection:': command unrecognized. 500 'User-Agent:': command unrecognized. 500 'Host:': command unrecognized. 500 'Accept:': command unrecognized. 500 'Accept-Language:': command unrecognized. 500 'Accept-Charset:': command unrecognized. Hi,
Hi! You've tryed to use the ftp-proxy in your browser - it isn't possible to work. The SuSE ftp-proxy is a real ftp-proxy for real ftp clients, not a http-proxy that "tunnels" ftp-connections via http-protocol. Use i.e. SQUID for your browsers and the ftp-proxy for ftp clients like "ftp" (each system should have this command line tool) or ncftp, xftp, wu-ftp, cute-ftp,.... You can also install the proxy as transparent ftp-proxy 'between squid and ftp-servers in the internet' to avoid active ftp transfers from squid: FTP-Client -> ftp-proxy -->> ftp-server (internet) WWW-Client using ftp -> SQUID -> ftp-proxy -->> ftp-server (internet) See our newest version in: http://www.suse.de/~mt/proxy-suite/fwproxy-1.7tp5-0.i386.rpm http://www.suse.de/~mt/proxy-suite/fwproxy-1.7tp5-0.src.rpm
