[opensuse-project] Question About Bandwidth
![](https://seccdn.libravatar.org/avatar/fa82ff1472abeebe3113f51ca8a5d39a.jpg?s=120&d=mm&r=g)
Hey friends, My work is currently looking at providing mirrors to some distributions, openSUSE being one of them, but they asked me about how much bandwidth on average is spent when people use your mirrors. I wanted to ask our group if anyone knows those numbers. For example, main repository versus a list of repositories in the USA. If anyone knows, please let me know :) -- Andy (anditosan) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, email: opensuse-project+owner@opensuse.org

All the information they require is already on the wiki - https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Mirror_infrastructure Regards, Richard

If you want to manage a mirror of mirrors for a group (a school, a company...), you can use squid : it manages files for you, no worries about what to keep and what to delete. Just be carreful that in default configuration, it keeps nearly nothing. Dsant from France On 08/13/2015 04:43 PM, Andres Betts wrote:

Dsant from France I wouldn't agree mirrorbrain brain damage squid usage ...
client A ask package A mirrorbrain say you find it on M1 client B ask package A mirrorbrain say you fint it on M2 result you store two time the same package and save no bandwidth. same apply for all this type of technologies. -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch openSUSE Member & Board, fsfe fellowship GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, email: opensuse-project+owner@opensuse.org
