We often have to refer to some mail list article. Now we have to find article in a mail client, open and browse http://lists.opensuse.org to find that article and then copy link in our email. It is job measured in minutes for active lists. It would be very convenient to have list archive link added to the mail footer with existing links, or even instead of unsubscribe link. Such functionality is provided for forums users that access them via nntp as line in the footer: View this thread: <link to thread> In case of mail list archive that stores messages per month, threads at the end of the month are broken in 2 pieces, so reference to thread is not useful, but pointer to the article will be improvement. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

I think that is a chicken-and-egg situation - with this, the mail could not be sent until it had been archived, but it can't be archived until is has been sent :-)
Such functionality is provided for forums users that access them via nntp as line in the footer: View this thread: <link to thread>
Which is possible because forum=archive. The message goes into the archive first, and is copied to the newsserver later.
In case of mail list archive that stores messages per month, threads at the end of the month are broken in 2 pieces, so reference to thread is not useful, but pointer to the article will be improvement.
That is surely an archive issue specific to the opensuse archive? -- Per Jessen, Zürich (17.2°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

Actually, that is only applied if the message is posted via the web interface - if it's posted via NNTP, that footer is not added. What is about List/Year/Month/Title or List/Year/Month/Day and adding in the archive both possibilities to go from one message to the 'next' by tread or time (and maybe more)? Hello project-list, I have a question related to Raiko's suggestion (also a possible improvement to the mail-lists). Is there jet a possibility to get (writing-) access to all openSUSE mailing-lists at once? The mail address for that might be like: all+subscribe-nomail@opensuse.org . Somewhere I have read about proposals for an access without vote in (I could not find it again), but I think that may not be the best possibility as it may increase the efforts to kick out spam and spammers. There is not. I'm still evaluating non-subscriber postings on a couple of lists and train our spam filter. Stay tuned... Henne -- Henne Vogelsang, openSUSE.
