[opensuse-project] Re: [Owncloud] ownCloud/openSUSE collaboration for GSoC 2013
Yes. Thanks from me too. Please note that this is a huge amount of work if we want to do this on our own. So as long as we can work with friendly projects like openSUSE I prefer to do that. Frank On 16.03.2013, at 16:52, Jan-Christoph Borchardt <hey@jancborchardt.net> wrote:
Wow Alessandro, thanks for taking care of this!
Maybe we should aim for participating on our own next year? I don’t know what this entails, maybe you also know more about this?

I am happy to announce a collaboration between openSUSE and ownCloud to participate in GSoC 2013.
As most of you know, in the last year we have participated under KDE. This is no longer possible, so this year our projects will be hosted under openSUSE.
I created a section for ownCloud projects on the openSUSE wiki: https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:GSOC_ideas#ownCloud If you are interested in mentoring a project (and you should!), please list it there.
Some students have already shown interest for some projects, namely: - an app for Prey - integration with Shiva
See related emails in the mailing list. It would be awesome if you could stand up and volunteer to mentor these projects.

And usually we don't have a big turnout of projects/mentor/students, so it's not worth. I think we had an average of two projects per year so far. This is definitely not sufficient to apply as an independent organization. Alessandro On Sat, Mar 16, 2013 at 4:59 PM, Frank Karlitschek <frank@owncloud.org> wrote:
