Just trying to understand why is happening in your side is needed to know what aspects could impact that outcome. Does it still happen from different: 1) Browsers 2) Desktop Environment 3) Operating Systems 4)Network (Internet frome WAN, LAN, etc.). Any possibility your ISP or having any server that is caching that web page? If you were using only one of the above options it is possible to try another option? It it only for troubleshooting isolation purposes
I am about ready to completely give up.
Are these issues ever going to be fully addressed?
If you want to respond with it works for me don't. It's not working reliably for me.
It's recurrent or it happened recently (same system)?

If you have a good understanding what is going you will make a good diagnostic and closer to solve it. Denver, I know the infrastructure is having some issues from several months ago. Recently, I have no heard anyone complaining about those issues. If there is no other people complaining about those issues the proper procedure to troubleshoot is trying different approaches. I have no possibility to fix our infrastructure (in case false expectations are risen) but giving some clues to solve these problems on the user side (if issues is on the user side). I would not like to start not useful complaints. There is enough complaints on different channels and they infrastructure maintainer already know about the weekend failures and other. I don't even know why is not already fixed or how much time is going to take to fix it. The forums have had some additional issues above and beyond things like static.o.o being unavailable. Some of the issues seem to be infrastructure related - and there have been some updates in the infrastructure to resolve some, but there's a L4 appliance that handles the virtual IPs that is out of support and needs to be replaced. That's in process. It /seems/ to be just IPv4 connections (which this appliance handles), as we've had nobody confirm seeing the issue with IPv6 (which goes through a different appliance). As one of the forum admins (but a non-technical admin), I've been closely involved with the IS&T folks in Utah in trying to diagnose and resolve the issues. Trust me, we've had tons of complaints. I've listened to them all and responded to most of them. The forum issues have been going on for more than 6 or 8 months. But we are slowly making progress. It's just slower than anyone wants (including the guy who has hands-on the systems). Denver,
I know the infrastructure is having some issues from several months ago.
Recently, I have no heard anyone complaining about those issues.
not hearing complaints about the openSUSE forum's infrastructure may mean you you are listening in the wrong places...(no doubt the largest majority of forums user do not come to the ML [and if you don't want an unending stream of questions like "how to change the background?" do NOT invite them!]) to follow the complaints of tens of thousands of forum user, you need to go _where_ they complain--done via either http (see URLs above; log in not required to read).. imo it is cleaner/easier/faster via nntp (forums.opensuse.org port 119).. these two sub-forums hold most of the complaints (there are others in other spots, but off topics): opensuse.org.feedback.forums.comments-suggestions opensuse.org.feedback.forums.support-information if you need more info on the forums via nntp, see http://forums.opensuse.org/faq.php?faq=novfor#faq_nntp openSUSE Forums Statistics: Threads 170,642 Posts 1,157,057 Members 68,908 Active Members 2,611 dd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, email: opensuse-project+owner@opensuse.org

At the risk of sounding like a broken record.... Of course they are. It's taking longer than expected to get the new L4 appliance in place - and that's where the tech people are pretty sure the problem lies. Do you really think we like having persistent problems with the forums? It does sound like a broken record Jim. It been like this for months. We have been losing users and converts over it you can be sure.. It's not a priority for our sponsors and it seems there is no sense of urgency. Steven -- ____________ Apply appropriate technology. Use what works without prejudice. It may not feel like it from "outside", but it does feel like it from "inside". Just got word that this actually wasn't an issue caused by the infrastructure or the hosts - apparently it's a DoS someone's launched against us. As if we didn't have enough problems to deal with.
