I just sent a reminder to those who did not voted

have gotten a new password to vote.
Please verify it
Happy Voting
What's the voter "alias" good for?
TL;DR: It's a pseudonym for each voter.
Longer version:
Helios shows the list of voters and their encrypted ballot publicly:
https://elections.opensuse.org/helios/e/board-elections-2018 -> "voters
and ballots"
Each voter has an "alias" (V1, V2, ...) so everybody who voted can check
if his/her own ballot was stored correctly. Also, if someone decided not
to vote, he/she can check that no ballot was stored for his/her voter
alias.
As a voter, you only know your own alias, so you can do the verification
described above, but can't see if a specific person did or didn't vote.
(Only the election committee knows all username - alias relations.)
The alternative would be to have the voters' usernames in the voter
list, so that everybody could see if a specific person did or didn't
vote. That could possibly lead to interesting[tm] situations like "hey
$name, why didn't you vote?", which we avoid by using the aliases.
(Of course we encourage all Members to vote, but nevertheless, having
free elections includes the right not to vote.)
Speaking about the election - the election ends tomorrow, so if you
didn't vote yet, please do it _now_!
Regards,
Christian Boltz

Be sure that I'll keep this quote for later when we'll suffer
some pain with gnome packages ;-)
