As I have said several times in the board meetings, when I asked the Google Open Source team, they told me that we can do whatever we consider appropriate with the money. This is NOT limited to other open source projects and it is also the reason why the GSoC admins (including myself) suggested donating the money for our conference in Indonesia. As far as I know, the only reason to not donate the money to openSUSE.Asia organization committee was that some board members had concerns about how the money is being handle. The GSoC admins for openSUSE would also like to finally close this topic, as during the whole time the board discuss about this, one of our admins has to keep the money in his personal Payoneer account.

Such long discussions because of the GSoC money and problems to forward this to openSUSE events has been one reason to vote for the openSUSE Foundation. If we were independently, we would be able to use the money for such cases such as the openSUSE Asia Summit. The donation for GNOME and KDE has been a compromise. I am looking forward to the decisions of our new openSUSE Board.
