the capacity of some to show restraint in an offline setting, to propose a live alternative. There is ample evidence that live settings are helpful when emotions run high.
Furthermore, the Board meetings are the best possible place to prevent and mitigate tensions -- it's even part of their mandate -- and I don't know about you, but I feel there is tension aplenty.
This is why *I am thereby proposing any one from the opposition to meet us*. That's one great opportunity! And if instead they prefer to meet in the Bar at any another time, just let us know, we can certainly arrange something at a time that suits their agenda. :)
See you next week!
https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Guiding_principles "We value transparency of the decision making processes, transparency of communication and transparency of work and collaboration processes. That includes openly answering questions, providing all relevant information, and actively keeping all involved parties informed. We are convinced that a transparent culture whose inner workings can be understood by everybody provides the most efficient and rewarding environment to reach our goals." I do not feel that limiting all discussions on this topic to in person meetings is consistant with the above core value of the openSUSE Project. The Project is larger than the few people who have the time/timezone to be able to attend in person meetings. Excluding/disenfranchising those who cannot attend those meetings actually undermines the intended function of those meetings (to provide an additional venue for discussion, not an exclusive one). The Board meetings are not to be used as to form exclusive cliques that undermine the work of contributors in the wider communities. So, I echo everything else Simon already said on this topic. His good advice on how to proceed is out there, openly, transparently. I suggest you follow it.
