We can argue about the semantics of it until the end of time.. is it right or wrong... and in a perfect world we'd say "no we won't go along with this initiative" but.. it's here already.. so... lets just get on with it and pay the fee, get the key... set it up so we can boot and be able to say we support Secure Boot :-)
That's clear to me and many, I guess. What is not clear is the mechanics of it. Like what is certified, grub, or the kernel. Have you got to pay again for each version. etc.
We (openSUSE or SUSE) would need to buy a Key from Verisign (for a period, most probabe it's an annual fee) and go to register to Microsoft Keys Management. My concerns on this particular (key registration) is how many keys could UEFI handling simultaneously. I mean Windows 8 is coming by default, we add another key for openSUSE, SUSE. What about you need another operating system or full customized system with some personal tweaks and modifications. Even more, what about Open Build Services customized appliances?
