Dear Xfce Geekos, About two years ago we introduced the OBS repo X11:xfce:rat, which builds Xfce components directly from Git master branch instead of using regular release tarballs[1]. Today openSUSE Xfce Team is proud to introduce a new and simpler way to enjoy those builds by using qcow2 images for KVM & XEN , we created with the use of OBS, Kiwi and Virtualization combined.
The build process is fully automated and packages get updated on a regular basis giving users qcow2 disk images with Xfce's latest builds based on openSUSE's rolling release Tumbleweed [2][3].
Currently there are two sets of qcow2 images for KVM & Xen: a) The openSUSE version provides the default experience Tumbleweed and Leap users are familiar with, which includes all the openSUSE branding, look & feel and settings.
b) The "vanilla" disk image ships Xfce completely unmodified from Git sources and without any openSUSE visual tweakings. This gives Xfce devs (and testers alike) who want to build and test software inside a complete Xfce environment the most convenient way to do so.

Usage: The most convenient way to use openSUSE's Xfce RAT disk images is virt-manager. The simplified steps are: 1. Download either of the qcow2 images linked above 2. Import the downloaded qcow2 image in virt-manager 3. Boot the imported image and follow the "first-time boot" wizard until the setup is complete 4. Have a lot of fun!
As the vagrant maintainer I am obliged to ask this: why not provide a
vagrant box with xfce too (kiwi supports building these out of the box)?
Downloading and starting such a VM would then be condensed to the
following two commands:
vagrant init opensuse/Tumbleweed-xfce.x86_64
vagrant up
