Hi folks, We want to migrate all relevant contents from the wikis to the new docs, but we don't have time to flip through every single wiki entry. The help would be: 1) identify relevant contents 2) flag / mark the relevant contents on the wikis that they are going to be migrated 3) report to us and help us migrate gracefully (i.e. check the contents, format them, merge them, and finally replace them on the relevant wiki pages with a single link pointing to their new location) Can some of you help? Can you put us in touch with someone who can? Who can? Some definitions to avoid misunderstandings: wikis := everything under https://en.opensuse.org/ news docs := https://github.com/openSUSE/openSUSE-docs-revamped-temp (soon on oS' Pagure instance) migrate := *remove* from, add to relevant contents := contents which: - apply to Tumbleweed - are up-to-date - overlap any of https://github.com/openSUSE/openSUSE-docs-revamped-temp/blob/dev/ToC.md, live at https://opensuse.github.io/openSUSE-docs-revamped-temp/index.html - have decent writing quality - have decent presentation qualities - are thorough and / or user-friendly Examples that meet all these conditions to fix ideas: https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Installation_on_external_hard_drive, https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Installing_a_Printer, https://en.opensuse.org/Systemd-networkd "Category:SDB" in particular is very interesting to us. We want to be done with this by the end of next month (30th of September) so please do let us know if you can do anything to help us. Thanks in advance, Gratefully yours, Adrien PS: Why remove anything from the wikis? Because not removing creates a redundancy that over time will become a dead weight as the GitHub/Pagure docs will keep improving as the wikis decay (if you think you can prove me wrong, let me know, there is certainly some work you can help us with :D)
Hi, I think this is very good idea. I have few questions: 1) What is/will be relationship to https://doc.opensuse.org/? Perhaps, I haven't heard anything from the folks in charge of it. From

What we are doing is a "practical user guide centered on usability and recommendations", so it does not stop at the pure technical facts and sometimes discusses topics and puts them in perspective.
2) Will there be any possibility to translate the content? Yes, weblate. I am dodging any discussion about this because there are too many milestones to cross before that becomes a subject. 3) How will contribution be possible? By pull request using git? Contrary to doc.opensuse.org and to the wikis, there will be -- at least while I am alive -- maintainers. So you get the best of both worlds (updated, peer-reviewed). We are extremely available on the platforms for suggestions and comments. For extended talks, there are Issues. For full-blown contributions, people can send us markdown files or lodge PRs. If the "community API" we're building at https://github.com/openSUSE/defrag-api is well accepted we can write a module to allow people to send contributions submissions via other means, i.e. email, Matrix, Telegram. That's not something to count on for the near future though, as there are other priorities. 4) Will there be any special replacement for landing pages like various Portal:XXX pages for various distributions? Landing pages are beyond the scope of the migration. We are only talking about actionable user documentation, especially for Tumbleweed things.
