I don't see any use of evergreen on desktop (but may be it's just me),
Yes :-) I used 11.4 on both my desktop and laptop. I delayed mostly because systemd was still flaky and needed it to stabilize, and me learn enough about it. And if you maintain a room of desktops for office, it makes sense to not update often, if the software you need works. Maybe upgrade some applications. Notice that one use of Evergreen is not to use it for three years, but for two. 18 months is too short, specially considering that you may need a month or more after release for certain bugs to be solved before you upgrade. So you stay on Evergreen for some months till you can upgrade.
but could do something more in depth if needed
I wrote most (all?) of the wiki page on offline upgrade. Needs work, but what it says still holds. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
