Sorry, but again you're wrong. You may have to work around compiler
problems and idiosyncracies (more so in the past than now, but still an
issue), but that's the exception and one of the reasons conditional
compilation is necessary in C/C++.
IMHO, anytime code is written it should be written to the existing
standards, but I have also seen a number of cases where a violation of
