"Chun Ki Shin"
I can't open emacs as a root. When I tried, I got the following message,
linux:/home/shin0135/03fall/cs5551_uid/pro1 # emacs memo3.c & [1] 2925 linux:/home/shin0135/03fall/cs5551_uid/pro1 # Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server Xlib: Invalid XDM-AUTHORIZATION-1 key (failed key comparison) emacs: Cannot connect to X server :0.0. Check the DISPLAY environment variable or use `-d'. Also use the `xhost' program to verify that it is set to permit connections from your machine.
wha can I do to fix this ..?
This mail clearly is off topic here, as it has *nothing* to do with programming. Please ask on suse-linux instead. The answer is, that you're trying to run the program as a user (probably root) that didn't start X. By default only the user that logged in via xdm/kdm/gdm has access to the display. Either use sux or google for Xauth. Philipp
