I installed till with some failures under Linux SuSE V 7.3 PPC editopm on a RISC 6000 7248-100. It is running quite find. Afterwards I inserted an IDE-HDD 80 GB. This disk is correct recognized from 80 GB size. But on system console I always get the message: hda: interrupt lost What can I do for solving this problem. Thanks Harald

Install a newer kernel. You probably want a newer distribution too. SuSE has stopped producing security updates for SuSE 7.x. I would recommend Debian or YellowDog. Check the 7248 HOWTO at http://tldp.org/HOWTO/IBM7248-HOWTO/ Ingvar -- Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends. Gandalf

Note I am not a geek and some folks may argue that it is not an optimal choice for you. Let's say it is my favorite flavor, I just like Woody. I don't think anybody would use the money it would cost for at copy of RedHat Enterprise Advanced Server (you need a ppc32 version, and only AS is availbe for ppc32). AS3.0 is not availble for free download. You could buy a lot of cool new hardware for the price. If you have the possibility, it would surely be a fun thing to try. Seriously, if you want a RedHat-like system, go for Mandrake or YellowDog. Both are more-or-less supported, check the 7248 howto.
