Help - need kernel vmlinux-2.6.13-15.7-default
Hello! I did an update of my Suse-10.0 PPC (on my PowerBook G3 Wallstreet - Suse works on it, great! :-) ). This update did change the kernel and related stuff (modules), and I rebooted w/o uploading the kernel to my HFSplus partition (there I need it for BootX). Now booting fails due to wrong usage of old kernel vmlinux-2.6.13-15-default in BootX (at best I get a running Linux w/o network access and HFSplus access and I can't upload the kernel anymore... :( Can anyone help me and send the right kernel vmlinux-2.6.13-15.7-default for PPC from the /boot directory to me? I can't find the kernel on the web... Can you boot the install kernel, into the rescue system? Boot it with 'rescue=1', then mount the root and hfsplus partiton and copy the /mnt/boot/initrd and /mnt/boot/vmlinux files to the hfs boot partiton. Umount both and update the settings in BootX. -- short story of a lazy sysadmin: alias appserv=wotan

I had this issue as well. I updated the kernel with YOU last night, and when I rebooted, I got a few kernel module problems, but I was able to log in. I haven't been able to read any HFS or HFS+ partitions, so I had to drop in a SCSI Zip drive and copy the files across. I really wish there was a better way to load Linux on Old World Macs, but...., obviously there are problems and there isn't that much demand. NetBSD uses the quik boot loader and there is another way that I can't remember I have seen comments about openSuSE dropping legacy hardware. Are there plans to remove support for the older Macs? Also, would I be able to use the v2.4 kernel(which has a lot of support for legacy hardware and a lot of the 2.6 kernel has been backport to it) instead of v2.6?
