I successfully installed SuSE 7.3 via ftp today. So far, everything works ok, but I cannot seem to be able to get any xfree or kde/gnome configured. I have a Gravis TT (similar to Umax Pulsar) with a plugged in formac proformance (using a permedia 3 chip by tdfx?!). I started sax2 and it tried to detect any hardware bt after after 90 mins it still tried to id my hardware, so I figured it crashed. (I used BootX with the video=ofonly option, does this affect anything?) How can I get my Linux with the standard 2.4.12 kernel to configure xfree 4.x correctly? Do I have to patch the kernel with the graphics card driver like explained on this page: http://www.irisa.fr/prive/dolbeau/pm3fb/pm3fb.html Since I am a newbie I feel a little threatened by the CLI and would love to get the chance to use a window based system for the time being.. Thanks for your help! Stephan
