hello, for the third time i'll report my experiences (?!) on my journey to a working NIC... having tested the smc 9432tx (etherpower II) and the smc 1211 i experienced that both won't work. tested on a pm 8200/120 64/big scsi raid ;)/cd under suse 7.1 ppc. trying to initialize the interface (e.g. via 'rcnetwork restart') results in a hanging machine (blubb -- and away; need for a hard reset). onboard eth works fine (but only 10mb though). ok, so i tried the holy DEC 'Tulip' chipset, the 21143 to be exact -- using the appropriate driver (for 21x4x-cards ;) this results in *lots of* errors on the cli (fortunately, i don't have 'em with me, so that i can't give 'em to you -- perhaps tomorrow...), saying that linux isn't able to initialize that card... so my final question: is there *any* card that runs under (suse) linux ppc? i need at least two additional interfaces (10/100mbit) on that machine!
