I already booted without 'hdc=ide-scsi' and tried /dev/hdc, but same result ... Rene Am Mit, 2002-07-03 um 09.33 schrieb Syam S.:
Hi,
I got the same errors. But, it worked when I stopped using the ide-scsi driver.

Hi,
I'm trying for a month now, but with no success.
First I tried with a patch for Mandrake8.2 which was made by Peter Osterlund when I asked for - Thanks :o)
Now I installed RedHat7.3 and used a 2.4.19-rc1-kernel from kernel.org which was patched by me with packetcd-2.4.19-pre4-patch.
I compiled both kernels with packetcd and UDF (writing enabled) as module.
Then I installed UDF-Tools 1.0.2b (./configure - make - make install).
Did a modprobe -v pktcdvd.
When I tried 'cdrwtool -d /dev/scd0 -q' (using IDE-SCSI, trying with a CD-RW and a DVD-RW) I got the following message:
---------------- snip ------------------------------------------------
[root@echelon root]# cdrwtool -d /dev/scd0 -q using device /dev/scd0 1238KB internal buffer setting write speed to 12x wait_cmd: Invalid argument Command failed: 55 10 00 00 00 00 00 00 3c 00 00 00 - sense 05.26.00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 05 32 20 27 0a 00 00 00 20 00 00 00 00 20 00 96 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 08 00 mode_select: Illegal seek set_write [root@echelon root]#

Trying mkuffs has the following result (independent wether pktsetup is set or not) and doesn't create any DMESG:
---------------- snip -------------------------------------------------
[root@echelon root]# mkudffs --media-type=cdrw /dev/pktcdvd0 trying to change type of multiple extents [root@echelon root]#

DMESG of 'pktsetup /dev/pktcdvd0 /dev/scd0':
-------------- snip ---------------------------------------------------
cdrom: This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize! pktcdvd: writer sr0 sucessfully registered
-------------- snap ---------------------------------------------------
Is 'sr0' right?
The writer is a PIONEER DVR-A03 (2x/1x/4 DVD-R/RW/ROM and 8x/4x/24 CD-R/RW/ROM)
Any hints? Did I do something wrong?
Thanxs for any help ...
Rene
