[opensuse-packaging] supressing error message

Hello, Is there any way to temporarily supress this error message coming from /usr/lib/rpm/brp-rootfs: binary /sbin/syslog-ng is linked against libraries in /usr or /opt libglib-2.0.so.0 => /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0 (0xb7646000) libssl.so.0.9.8 => /usr/lib/libssl.so.0.9.8 (0xb75f5000) libcrypto.so.0.9.8 => /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8 (0xb7483000) I could not find anything related on http://en.opensuse.org/Packaging/RpmLint Bye, CzP -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+help@opensuse.org

binary /sbin/syslog-ng is linked against libraries in /usr or /opt
As you can see, syslog-ng uses libraries in /usr. This is bad as syslog-ng could possibly be started without /usr being mounted. Philipp -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+help@opensuse.org

I still use a separate /usr partition on servers, mainly because of my FreeBSD background :) But for the rest I agree, very few people use it, so it is not much use any more to be so strict on this problem, a warning instead of an error should be enough. Still I added https://features.opensuse.org/308901 as I want to be able to use the latest syslog-ng, which is full with interesting features... Um, separate partition is perfectly fine. All local filesystems are mounted before syslogd starts (in fact before pretty much else starts either). It's when /usr is mounted over NFS, i.e. after network is up that all services started before needs to sit in only / . I would predict that about 10 persons in the world still use NFS-/usr ;-) Ciao, Michael.

I added an openFATE request: https://features.opensuse.org/308901 to move openssl from /usr/lib to /lib, as it would be useful for other apps too. Bye, CzP -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+help@opensuse.org

This is a long standing bug in glib2 and openssl packages.
That the libraries aren't in /lib? Philipp -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+help@opensuse.org
